He Who Saw the Deep involves a retelling of The Epic of Gilgamesh - one of the oldest pieces of literature in the world, and a myth that predates even the invention of writing. The tale touches on timeless ideas of love, death, and grief; themes that have given the Epic its undeniable staying power. Using the visual language of comics, I have distilled the entire story into twenty-five  panels of carved, dyed, and gilded marble, presenting the energy of the myth’s most pivotal and evocative scenes.
